New Zealand Based Designer’s XYZ Shoe Mixes 3D Printing & Traditional Materials

New Zealand based designer and Shapeways user Earl Stewart has designed the XYZ Shoe using a combination of 3D Printed Nylon and traditional shoe making materials such as leather and laces.

We have seen a number of 3D printed shoes hit the runway along with a few prototype sports shoes from Nike and New Balance but these are the first to use 3D printing in a more traditional, wearable style, and for men.

Our new Elasto Plastic may be the perfect material to usher in a new range of 3D printed and/or partially 3D printed shoes into the market.

Check out Earl’s impressive portfolio featuring additional 3D printed footwear experiments and more.

3D Printed Strvct Shoes by Continuum Fashion Now Available

They brought you the first 3D Printed Bikini, now Continuum Fashion have released the Strvct 3D printed shoe, lined with a patent leather inner sole and coated with a synthetic rubber to provide greater traction.

strvct refers to structure. With 3D printed nylon, delicate looking forms are actually incredibly strong while also being impossibly lightweight. We present a triangulated spin on the classic wedge pump, which brings to mind Cinderella’s glass slipper in its transparency. Expanding on this idea, we created a sandal with a 3D printed base and origami tyvek butterflies

After requesting in the Shapeways forum for a 3D modeler, INNER | LEAF were delighted to win the commission to model one of her designs. So impressed with the first model, Janina commissioned INNER | LEAF to do her entire range which included 3 shoes and a Hat.

We are seeing the number of the requests for 3D modelers increase every month to the point that a few of the Shapeways community members are getting a regular income stream from their 3D modeling skills. If you have some design skills you would like to offer for hire you can offer your services in the Shapeways forums so that people who are looking to hire a 3D designer can find you and some of your work.  Many people want to 3D Print their ideas whether they be art, fashion, jewelry, products and architecture, sometime they just need a little help…
